Costa Rica announced that the entire country has been running on renewables since the start of this year. How cool is that!?
They join the ranks of Iceland, Bhutan, Albania and Paraguy in 100% renewable energy club. Costa Rica combined it's geothermal, solar and hydroelectric resources to support their small, low-energy consumptive population. This new makes me think back to my easy, beach-life vacation to the country last year.
Check out this awesome intereactive infographic on renewable energy in the US from one of my favorite places online, Good Magazine. And just an fyi, 13% of the US's energy comes from renewable sources, no longer 8%.
