I've been dreaming about a Celine bag for years. This $200 Coach got me to stop

Let me set the scene. For the past two or three years I've had a very specific bag on my mind: the Celine Romy. Elongated, slouchy, effortless in a polished way. I've looked at it more times than I could count and even tried to convince myself maybe one day it could be a milestone bag. And every single time I close the tab, because I cannot bring myself to spend that much on a handbag. I'm just too frugal. And I highly doubt that ever going to change.

So when Coach released the small Ella shoulder bag in February, I genuinely stopped scrolling because it was the same silhouette. The elongated hobo baguette shape and for just $199 from the Coach Outlet. I thought: okay, Coach has been watching my browsing history.

I'll be honest, I don't usually shop the Coach outlet. My hesitation has always been the branding. Outlet bags tend to lean into the logo in a way that doesn't quite fit my taste. I've always been drawn to the more understated side of Coach. But the Ella has this beautiful buckle detail on one side, and when you flip it around, the signature isn’t even visible. “Quiet luxury” aesthetic achieved.

The leather is the first thing that got me. You can see the grain and the stitching is even, the kind you'd be checking for on a much pricier bag. The zipper runs along a curve and is super smooth. And the shiny gold hardware works so well against the espresso color, which reads as a deep brown with just a little red undertone.

My daily carry isn't minimal: a wallet, a key pouch (the Sézane one I love), a handwritten notebook with a pen, my phone, a lipstick, sunglasses, and usually headphones. All of it fit without the bag looking overstuffed. It actually looks better filled because the leather settles into a really nice slouch when there's something in it. On the shoulder, the weight feels comfortable and makes me feel incredibly chic.

One drawback is that the Ella doesn't have feet on the bottom. That and corner wear are things I'll pay attention to over time. I plan to condition the leather soon and I'm genuinely curious how much softer and smooshier it'll get. That kind of natural wear-in is exactly what I wanted from this bag. I'll report back in another video soon!
