A Food Diary: Tulum's Best Restaurants

I have to say that my most joyful memories of Tulum all are somehow tied to food. Good food is everywhere, whether it be cheap taquerias or fine dining restaurants with ocean views. Here are some of my favorite spots.

Flor de Michoacan

Flor de Michoacan (or Flor as my honey and I call it) was our numero uno eatery while in Tulum. They serve all meals plus have an incredible assortment of helados to stave off the Mexican heat. We particularly enjoyed stopping by before heading to the beach or catching a bus out of town for the day. The ADO bus stop is conveniently fight across the street, as is a taxi stand.

Taquerias

We took full advantage of being in Mexico and tried many different taquerias including La Chiapaneca and El Nero located in Tulum Pueblo. My favorite tacos were definitely El Nero's, but there were some in Coba that were a very close second!

Campanella Cremerie

Campanella is a super modern gelato spot that stands out in the pueblo. We stopped in one morning to indulge in waffles al fresco and good Italian coffee!

Posada Margherita

Posada Margherita was recommended to us by a friend and boy are we appreciative of her! The candle-filled restaurant is unmatched on the ambiance scale and it is almost as if the ocean breeze is there to add the finishing seasoning to your food.

Puro Corazon

Located on the jungle side of the main strip by the beach, Puro Corazon offered the best service we had while in Tulum. Although there were some issues with our meal (so many flies, but after all it is the jungle!) our servers were incredibly warm and genuinely full of heart! Not to mention that the live music was great too.

Papaya Playa Project

Papaya Play Project was all about the view for us. Arrive right before sunset for some of the most beautiful silhouettes ever.
